Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil was on the losing side on Saturday in a thrilling encounter with Man Utd, with the visitors at the Emirates winning 3-1.
It was a disappointing scoreline for the Gunners, who had 33 shots on goal and forced David De Gea into make 14 saves, the joint-most in a single Premier League game ever.
In turn, they will feel aggrieved that they couldn’t take anything from the game, and Arsenal fans probably won’t enjoy seeing this either.
As reported by The Telegraph, there is plenty of transfer speculation linking the German international with a move to Old Trafford next year, as he will become a free agent at the end of the season with his current Arsenal deal set to expire.
As a result, seeing him embrace the Man Utd bench after the game, as seen below, and share a moment with Anthony Martial isn’t going to fill the Gunners faithful with too much confidence that he isn’t Manchester bound next summer.
It could be argued that it’s looking too much into a nothing exchange, but it has certainly sparked transfer talk on social media to get United fans very excited and so it remains to be seen whether Ozil will be plying his trade next season.
From an Arsenal perspective, it will be a blow in itself to lose a player of Ozil’s quality, but to see him join a direct rival would be a real setback.
