The Partenopei have made a flying start to the season, winning all seven of their league matches to date, and they already hold a two-point lead over Juventus at the top of the standings.
Napoli have not won the Scudetto since 1990 and so De Laurentiis is not getting too carried away with their fast start as he believes this could be one of the most open title races in Italy for a number of years.
“We want to be first at the end of March, right now it doesn’t mean anything,” De Laurentiis told Tuttomercatoweb. “The league has been revolutionised, though, and it’s more entertaining now.
“There are five very strong teams, Lazio are up there, too. Don’t despair, even if for journalists it’s enough to lose one game for a disaster, or if you win one there’s talk of champions.”
Maurizio Sarri’s side will put their perfect start to the season on the line when they travel to the Stadio Olimpico to take on fellow title contenders Roma on Saturday.
