AC Milan transfer news: €30m price-tag scuppered summer move, plus key condition in pursuit of midfield target

AC Milan were busy this past summer transfer window, but a move for Quincy Promes from Spartak Moscow failed to materialise due to his reported valuation.

The Rossoneri ended up securing a solution to the problem in the wide positions by signing Samu Castillejo from Villarreal, with Carlos Bacca moving in the opposite direction.

However, reports did link them with a swoop for Promes, although a move is said to have fallen short due to a €30m price-tag being placed on the Dutch winger by his current club, as per Calciomercato.

The 26-year-old impressed last season, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in 38 appearances. However, that seemingly wasn’t enough to convince Milan to splash out on him, while given their FFP issues earlier this summer, perhaps they also weren’t in a position to pay that kind of money.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen whether or not the situation changes next summer, with the report hinting that the Italian giants may revisit the move moving forward.

Nevertheless, much will surely depend on his ability to continue to impress in Russia, and prove that he could be a successful addition to the Milan squad.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato also continue to link Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot with a move to the San Siro, but on one key condition that Milan want to reach an agreement with the Frenchman who is set to become a free agent next summer, rather than entering a potential bidding war in January.

Unsurprisingly, the 23-year-old is a player in demand given his influence and quality displayed at PSG during the early part of his career, with Don Balon suggesting that Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on signing him too.

Nevertheless, with Milan still lacking world-class talent in midfield, a move for Rabiot could address that issue but time will tell if they get their man.
